Can Diabetes cause Glaucoma?

Excessive free radicals have been reported to be involved in tissue disorders caused by peroxidation. People with diabetic have an increased risk of glaucoma.

In ophthalmology, oxidative stress has been reported to induce and facilitate progression of cataracts and diabetic retinopathy.

Neovascular glaucoma can possibly happen with diabetic people if abnormal blood vessel growth, which can occur as a result of retinopathy, blocks the natural drainage of the eye.
